SAFETY MEASURES. RULES AND PROHIBITIONS.

•       Climb to the Dome is necessarily guided by expert staff.

•       Follow the instructions of the guides and stay close to them.

•       Visit to the Dome of Santa Maria di Campagna lasts about 45 minutes. Visit to the Dome of the Cathedral lasts about 55 minutes.

•       Visits to both climbs are allowed for a maximum of 20 people.

•       It is possible to purchase single-climb tickets or cumulative tickets at both ticket offices.

•        As religious sites, keep a low tone of voice and behave properly.

•       Some passages may be difficult to pass through.

•       Children and teenagers from 6 to 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

•       Children under 6 years old are not allowed to climb to the Dome for safety reasons.

•       A little physical effort is needed and the path includes some narrow and feebly lit passages. For these reasons the climb to the Dome is not allowed for people with walking problems or heart diseases, for people who suffer from vertigo or claustrophobia, for people with visual impairment and for pregnant women.

•       Some parts of the ascent route, in the summer period, can reach temperatures higher than those outside.

•       The Dome can be reached only by stairs including brief passages of 1 meter and a half in height and 50 centimetres in width.

•       Comfortable clothes and shoes are required because steps can be quite high and have short tread (high-heeled shoes are not admitted).

•       Visitors are allowed to take pictures and record videos without using flash or tripods. It is strictly forbidden to stick out such devices (including smartphones and tablets) over the safety barriers and nets along the walkways.

•       Access to the Dome is not allowed with bulky bags, backpacks and equipment. It is also suggested to avoid taking medium or small bags along the path due to narrow passages (before starting the climb lockers are provided free of charge).

•       It is strictly forbidden to smoke or eat along the path, to lean out from the protective barriers, throw objects, touch artworks, switches or other parts of the building systems.
